Beijing-Zhangzhou High Speed Railway

      Beijing-Zhangzhou Intercity Railway, also known as Beijing-Zhangzhou High-speed Railway, Beijing-Zhangzhou Section of Beijing-Lanzhou Passenger Dedicated Line. After the completion of the Beijing-Zhangzhou high-speed railway, it will be the first high-speed railway with the highest design speed of 350 km/h in the world.

       Beijing-Zhangzhou High-speed Railway starts from Beijing North Railway Station in Xicheng District of Beijing. It runs through Haidian, Changping, Yanqing, Huailai, Xiayuan and Xuanhua, and eventually reaches Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province. It is about 174 kilometers long and has branches to Yanqing and Chongli. After the completion of the railway, the time between Zhangjiakou South Railway Station and Beijing North Railway Station by EMU train will be shortened to about 50 minutes. The project started on April 29, 2016 and is expected to be completed and opened before December 31, 2019.

       There are 10 stations on the main line of the project, namely Beijing North Station, Qinghe Station, Shahe Station (no passenger transport), Changping Station, Badaling Great Wall Station, East Garden North Station, Huailai Station, Xiayuan North Station, Xuanhua North Station and Zhangjiakou South Station. Badaling Great Wall Station, Huailai Station, Xiayuan North Station and Xuanhua North Station are newly built stations. The rest are renovated stations, including Beijing North, Qinghe and Zhangjiakou South.

       Beijing-Zhangzhou Intercity Railway, which leads from the Qinghe River, passes through Shahe to Changping, turns northwest through the north side of Nankou, passes through Juyongguan Tunnel (3044 meters), Jiuxianmiao Zhongqiao (71 meters) and New Badaling Tunnel (12010 meters) through Jundushan, passes through Guanting Reservoir along the existing Beijing-Baotou Railway, passes through Shacheng, Xiayuan, Xuanhua and Zhangjiakou in the northwest, and the Chongli Branch Line starts from Xiayuan North Station. Finally, to the Olympic Village of Chongli Prince City.

       The new line is 174 kilometers long, including 61.633 kilometers in Beijing and 107.013 kilometers in Hebei. Beijing North Railway Station, Qinghe Railway Station, Shahe Railway Station, Changping Railway Station, Badaling Great Wall Station, Dongyuan North Railway Station, Huailai Railway Station, Xiayuan North Railway Station, Xuanhua North Railway Station and Zhangjiakou South Railway Station are set up on the whole line. The estimated investment of the project is 58.41 billion yuan, which is jointly invested by China Railway Corporation, Beijing, Hebei Province and Zhangjiakou Mu

       According to the project report submitted to the National Development and Reform Commission, the Beijing-Zhangzhou Intercity Railway will connect Zhangji and Jibao Railway in the West and Beijing Hub in the east, which is an important part of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Intercity Railway Network.

       In the future, the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway will be a powerful means of transportation linking Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. It will not only guarantee the successful hosting of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, but also promote the mutual development of Beijing and Zhangjiakou with the advantages of science, technology, finance and talent, as well as the excellent environmental resources and tourism resources of Zhangjiakou, so as to promote the joint development of Beijing and Zhangjiakou with high speed and high efficiency.

       The construction of Beijing-Zhangzhou Intercity Railway will promote the linkage development between Beijing and Zhangzhou with high speed and high efficiency. Beijing is a national political, economic and cultural center with abundant headquarters resources, relatively developed service industry and high-tech, capital, technology and talent advantages.

      Beijing-Zhangzhou high-speed railway is a key national construction project and an important transportation guarantee facility for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games in 2002.
